what really matters when staying in Cape Town
Location, Location, Location
This apartment is big on location and views. While the design and character of the place is just as important, we also are aware that location & sweeping views make all the difference.
“Charlotte” is located on the 6th floor, the top floor of the Soho On Strand building, offering sweeping views towards Cape Town harbour, Robben Island, and the famous soccer stadium. The environs are positively urban, yet the apartment is a welcome interlude to the busy hum of Cape Town Centre. The position is perfect to explore the city on foot (or short UBER rides if walking is no fun to you).
De Waterkant’s distinctive energy is fuelled by a hip and trendy crowd – a very chic precinct of Cape Town, embedded in a historic area. It is known to embrace cultural diversity as a trademark and is loved for its unique restaurants, eateries, and designer boutiques.
Whether traveling for business or vacation, de Waterkant conveniently offers all amenities. Sightseeing or shopping destinations such as the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, the Cape Quarter Lifestyle Village, the Bo-Kaap, St Georges Mall, and Greenmarket square, to name just a few, are situated close by. Simply step out of the building and be inspired by the many options.
For business travellers, the Cape Town Convention Centre is within walking distance–and by the way, so is the famous stadium.
We love to meander in any direction and explore the magic for which the “Mother City” is famous. On our homecoming, it feels as if we are returning to our cocoon above the world…

Core Places
Liquor Store
Our favorite is the Barkeeper – not your ordinary bottle store, virtually across the road, but they even deliver, and stock non-alcoholic beverages too!
Restaurants
Many restaurants are close by, and sometimes we find it hard to keep up with all of them. Old time favorites are Hemmelhuijs, and Anatolis
Groceries
The most practical grocery store due to its proximity and great selection, is the SPAR supermarket at the Cape Quarter mall.
Coffee & Easy Eatery
Whether it is a late breakfast, a cuppa, or an early lunch – you will find it all, and more. Here 2 of my favorites around the corner: Origin and Loading Bay
Dry Cleaning
There is a washer / dryer at the apartment, but there might just be that piece for the dry cleaners – the most convenient is Nanucci,
Clubs & Bars
We will add on to this list, but for now, most definitely the Athletic Club & Social – restaurant & live jazz
Shopping
Honestly, there is so much around, I would not know where to start, but here shops I adore: Maison Mara. Kluk, Loading Bay
